Climate Change and Economists

Clearly climate change is a significant economic issue. Recent policy debate such as that surrounding the Garnaut report has had much input from economists, some critical and citing uncertainties, the need for cost estimation, and various technical economic challenges.

While such valid concerns need to be considered, we must remember that economics is "just one input" into climate change policy consideration (to paraphrase Rudd). On this diabolical policy challenge, we can't let uncertainty and difficulty be a reason to delay. Nor can we let one way of thinking and seeing the world (economics), constrain our options.
